Please look over your child’s part and help them memorize their line/lines. There is NO GUARANTEE that they will say their actual line/lines in the performance. We only have a limited amount of time to perform and I’m uncertain right now of how long my original performance will take. If it is too long, I will have to cut out speaking parts, however, each child WILL be performing songs and chants. Thank you for your understanding.

*Two More Weeks Left!- For the next two weeks we will be practicing for our Graduation Performance. Academics will be light! We will work hard to finish our Rainbow Sight Words. There will be no more memory verses to memorize and no more sharing.

*Left Over Work- Work that we did not get to this year will be sent home in a packet. This is a great way to refresh your child’s memory during the summer. Please read with your child regularly during the summer!

*Summer Work- I strongly suggest that you buy a booklet to practice with your child over the summer to prepare them for 1st grade. They have learned and gained so much knowledge this year and I don’t want it to all be forgotten this summer! These books are available at any education store. You can try Lakeshore or the Education Station.

*5th Week Progress Reports- Progress reports should be mailed home this week!

*Pictures!!!!!- Please email your pictures to manders_t@hotmail.com

Kindergarten Weekly Memo
May 4th-7th

Bible:
Lazarus and the Rich Man
The Rich Young Ruler
Zacchaeus

Memory Verse: Kk- “Keep your tongue from evil.” Psalm 34:14
*This is our LAST memory verse for the year! Please bring in a glass jar for your child to make a candleholder out of. I would prefer it be a 12oz. jar. You do not need to bring in the lid. Please have your child’s name on the bottom of the jar. Please have the jar turned in by Friday, March 19th.

Homework- This week our only official homework will be reading on Tuesday and Thursday!

Miss Nenadov’s Kindergarten Weekly Memo
02/22/10-02/26/10

Bible-
The Wedding at Cana
Jesus Changes People
Paralytic is Healed
The Pool of Bethesda

Memory Verse: Letter Rr-

“Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.” Exodus 20:8

Sharing Letter: Rr
*Please note new sharing day!

Monday-Summer, Fall, Letters A-D
Tuesday- E-J
Wednesday-K-P
Thursday-Q-V
Friday-W-Z, Winter and Spring

Phonics- We will continue to read and mark words with long vowels.

We will review that O and E say their names or long vowel sound if they are the only vowel and they come at the end of the word. The cafeteria will be CLOSED on Friday, so plan accordingly!

Valentine’s Day (Friday)-We are not going to focus on Valentine’s Day at all, HOWEVER, your child is allowed to bring in candy/cards to be passed out. Thanks for your cooperation!

Locked Doors-Facilities has asked that we keep our doors locked at ALL times. Look for the please finish and return stamp.

Math- We will continue to learn sorting by lengths (shorter, longer). Not many math pages will be sent home. We will be using many manipulatives to learn new concepts and I will assess their knowledge based on their use of manipulatives. Below is an explanation.

Marcy Cook

Two weeks ago I had the privilege of spending a day at Marcy Cook’s seminar: Math for K-3. Marcy Cook is a leading math specialist, master educator and author. She believes that “number sense develops gradually by exploring, visualizing and relating number algorithms.” Marcy introduced me to a new approach of teaching math. Practically, her philosophy will be implemented in our kindergarten class by having our students use manipulatives, hands-on games, and other relevant math tools. The goal is to have the students actively involved. Active involvement will engage students and maximize their learning.

Science- Seasons and Seeds

Reminders/Notes

*100th Day of School- Friday, February 5th will be the 100th Day of School! We are not going to have a party that day, but we are going to spend most of the day learning about 100! We are going to have different centers set up in which the children will rotate and participate in different 100 activities. I will need about 7 parents to sign-up and volunteer to run a center. Please look for me outside to sign-up. I will need parents to make a commitment from 10:00a.m.-12:00p.m.

*Aquarium of the Pacific Field Trip- We will be taking our 3rd field trip on Wednesday, February 10th! Be sure to help them with their formation and please check their pencil grip.

*Snacks-Please remember to send your child to school with a snack.

*Nap-Please make sure that your child’s blanket is not too large. I am unable to close the cupboards if the blankets are too large. It is nearly impossible to fit a blanket and a pillow in the small space.

*Be sure to check and see if your child’s outerwear meets the dress code. Please forgive me for leading you astray in an earlier posting. I was misinformed.

*We are 19 days away from the 100th day of school. Sweaters that are worn INSIDE must be school colors. If you want your child to wear a jacket when they are OUTSIDE ONLY, then it may be different colors. However, if you intend for your child to wear their sweater inside the classroom, it needs to be a GCS color.

Snack Reminder

We have snack time everyday from 9:55a.m.-10:15a.m. Please try and remember to send your child to school with a snack. I do have a small supply of snacks to give your child if they do not have a snack, but the supply is quickly disappearing. The students are usually pretty hungry by snack time.

Christmas Program

THANK YOU for working with your child on their part for the program. I am impressed with how quickly they are learning their parts. The program is next Thursday, December 11th. It begins at 7:00p.m. and we are the first group up. Please have your child dropped off in the classroom NO LATER THAN 6:30p.m.! The program is MANDATORY, and you are asked to stay for the whole performance. After the program we will walk back to the classroom and you may pick your child up from there. Your child DOES NOT need to wear their uniform for the program. However, they need to dress appropriately. We encourage the girls to wear dresses and the boys collared shirts and pants. If your child does not have anything “fancy” to wear, their school uniform will do fine.

Christmas Letter

I am sending your child home with their Christmas letter. Please enjoy decorating the letter with your child. Don’t feel like you have to buy any supplies to decorate it. If you only have crayons at home, that will do. J

Missing Sweaters

If your child is missing their sweater or any other object, check the Lost and Found. If you are unable to pick-up and would still like to participate, please email me at bnenadov@gracechurch.org .
More information to follow next week!

Beary Special Person Schedule

Week Of:
November 9th- Jackie and Jasmine K.
November 16th- Jasmine T.
November 30th- Aiden
December 7th- Jules
December 14th- Nicole
January 4th- Kayleen
January 11th- Nathan and Hector
January 18th- Leah
January 25th- Melanie
February 1st- Ben
February 8th- Sarah F. and Valerie
February 15th- Thomas
February 22nd- Seth
March 8th- Sonya and Victoria
March 15th- David
March 22nd- Katie
March 29th- Christian M. and Christian T.
April 12th- Joshua C. and Joshua Y.
April 19th- Sarah T.
April 26th- Phoebe
May 3rd- Isaiah
May 10th- Daniel
May 17th- Jordan

**Due to our class size, we will have two Beary Special People for some weeks! J I can’t believe that we have less than 29 weeks left!

Sharing is Caring

Next week we will begin sharing things in class. Here is the catch. Your child must bring in something to share that starts with the letter of the week. If it is a vowel, it must be a short vowel sound. We have not learned about long vowels yet. Your child DOES NOT have to bring in things to share! If they choose to, they will only be allowed to share on their specific day. (If the weekly letter is a vowel, they may share an item that has the vowel in it. If it is a consonant, the item that they are sharing must start with the consonant. Some exceptions may apply). J

Red Row- Mondays
Orange Row- Tuesdays
Yellow Row- Wednesday
Green Row- Thursday
Blue and Purple Rows- Friday

All items MUST be kept in your child’s backpack until it is time to share. Check the blog to see which letter we are sharing each week!

11/02-11/06

Kindergarten Weekly Memo
November 2nd-November 6th

Bible: Heaven and Salvation

Memory Verse- Dd-“Depart from evil, and do good.”
Psalm 34:14

Phonics: We will be reviewing all vowels and learning the
consonants Rr and Ff. ALL of them!
On Friday, October 30th, we would like to plan a special day for the facilities team. Our class will make cards for the facilities team and we would like to have special “treats” for them as well. If you would be willing to bring in food for our facilities team to enjoy, let me know. I will be standing outside each day at dismissal with a sign-up sheet. If you can contribute, that would be wonderful. Here is what your child will be learning this week in class.

Bible- Days 3-6 of Creation
Memory Verse: Ii- John 14:14- “If ye shall ask anything in my name, I will do it.” (We are starting our memory verses this week. We will start with the letter Ii. We will practice the verse daily in class and students will be expected to know it by Friday, 09/11/09).

Phonics- Continue with short u, introduce e and review i, u, e.

Handwriting- Continue with cursive u and introduce cursive
e. (If unfinished work is sent home, please use the Slant Guide and Cursive Formation Chart for help).

Math- This week we will continue to focus on the words/concepts of; inside,
outside, right, left, same, different, sort.

*We are starting our memory verses this week. In order to keep on track, I needed to push the verses up a week early. This week is John 14:14- letter Ii.

*After your child learns a letter in class, a small note card will be sent home. This is for them to collect and keep at home. I suggest hole punching all of them and putting them on a key ring for safe keeping and for easy access. Bible memory verse cards will also be sent home. These are for you to keep as well.

*If you volunteered to work in the classroom, I will send a note home with your child telling when you will be needed.

*If you have not done so, Please fill out your child’s emergency card and turn it in to me or to the school office! They are necessary for emergencies and field trips.

*There will be no homework this week. If your child has work in their folder that means that it is unfinished work. Please have them complete it at home and return it to school the next day.

*If there is work in your child’s folder that is either stamped or has a sticker on it, that is work for you to keep at home. I will start grading their work later on this week.

Weekly Memo

08/31/09-09/04/09

Welcome to week two of school! Here is what your child will be learning this week in class.

Bible- Days 1-3 of Creation
Memory Verse: Genesis 1:1-“In the beginning God created the heavens and earth.” (Your child will not be tested on this verse. We are learning this verse together as a class to prepare your child for memory verses. Memory verses will start the second week of September).

Phonics- Continue with short i and introduce short u

Handwriting- Continue with cursive i and introduce cursive
u. (A Slant Guide and a Cursive Formation Guide will be sent home in your child’s folder. Those are for you to keep at home so you may help your child when homework starts).

Math- This week we will be focusing on the words/concepts of; inside,
outside, right, left, same, different, sort. At the beginning of each chapter there is a short story in which the chapter is introduced. The story for Chapter 1 will be sent home this week; it does not need to be returned to school.

Remember, our behavior chart is in full swing this week. Please work with your child to obey the first time. Be sure to sign their report each day and send it back to school. (If your child received a white star for the day, then they will have a "gold" little star to collect. I now realize that this may cause a little confusion, so I will try to make them white stars from now on).Thank you for your prayers and encouragement. Let’s continue to pray (1 Thessalonians 5:17) that this year would be a productive, God honoring year.

Welcome To Our Blog!

Since we are going paperless, I will be posting our weekly newsletter on this blog.
